default-jre-headless software package provides Standard Java or Java compatible Runtime (headless), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install default-jre-headless
default-jre-headless is installed in your system.
Make ensure the default-jre-headless package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep default-jre-headless *
You will get with default-jre-headless package name, version, architecture and description in a table
